Here is the packaging of ZD Toys Thanos. You can see that his box is bigger than ZD Toys Smart Hulk. I would have preferred if they have standard-sized packaging for these bigger sized figures. But as it is, ZD Toys has not been consistent for some of their figures.
The artwork of Thanos looks good, which is different from the Hulk’s box, which has a picture of the Hulk instead of an artwork of him.
Anyways, I still do find the ZD Toys Armoured Thanos to look majestic in his packaging.
Again, there is the Thanos artwork at back of the box. Hulk has a generic movie team shot. On the other back side of the box is a generic team shot that is printed on most of ZD Toys packaging.
These are the add-on accessories (at additional costs of course lol). The right side is Thanos’, which is a base and a pair of purple flame effect.
Here is the figure in the clamshell. He’s all tied to the clamshell.
There’s an ‘official Marvel Merchandise’ sticker on the clamshell, just like other ZD Toys Marvel figures.
Here he is with all the accessories laid out. The blade is leaning on him, it’s not standing on it’s own lol.
He comes with a pair of semi-open hands, on gripping right hand to hold the blade and the infinity gauntlet.
The blade is actually the best thing about this figure. Its really sculpted and painted well, unlike the Marvel Legends BAF version of the blade.
I wish he came with an alternate angry face. This face looks like he is bored lol.
I have mixed feelings about the paintwork of the figure. So far the ZD Toys Smart Hulk, Rescue and Iron Man Mk 85 has not disappointed me, they have great paintwork.
For this figure however, the gold part of the armour on the body is shiny, but the rest of the goal on the hands and legs has a matt finish.
The helmet is made of soft rubber material and has a matt finish too. It would really look majestic of all the gold has the same shiny gold as the torso.
Here’s the purple flame effect in action. The flame effect can also be put at both end of the blade for some fiery effect.
I realized buying the base was a waste of money because it is so small and kind of insignificant lol.
He has the same ugly joint cut issue. You can see at the right elbow above, that the corners at the elbow are cut at almost 90 degrees, and it simply looks reactangularish and doesn’t look nice.
Here’s how you swap the arms. The left arm can be separated. Once the gauntlet is attached, it cannot be rotated, meaning that the gauntlet hand will remain the that position.
Above, I actually just place the gauntlet in any way the arms in order to achieve this pose. It is not secure in any way.
The gauntlet also has a cheap feel to it with matt gold paintwork.
The Thanos head from the MCU 10th Year Anniversary 3-pack head can’t fit in the peg, but a simple sticky tack solution makes it stay in place. The helmet is small and looks awful on that head.
Here is a size comparisons with the 3-pack Thanos.
The 3-pack Thanos looks bulkier. He also has a slightly light shade of purple.
The armoured Thanos is slightly taller in height.
Here he is with Marvel Legends Iron Man Mk 50. He scales well with ML.
Here are the trio of big characters by ZD Toys. Hulkbuster is definitely undersized, Thanos is ok, and Hulk could have been bigger, but still passable.
+ Scales well with Marvel Legends
+ Removable helmet
+ Comes with accessories (infinity gauntlet, alternate right hand, blade)
+ Got mine with added-on accessories (base, a pair of purple flame effect)
– Poor articulation
– Gold paintwork not consistent; gold only shiny on torso, the gold on the rest of the figure is has a matt finish
– Ugly joint cuts on elbow and knees
Here are the ZD Toys Armoured Thanos, ZD Toys Smart Hulk and ZD Toys Hulkbuster 2.0 with BAF Smart Hulk, Hulkbuster 1.0 and quantum suit Black Widow and Ant-man.
The ZD Toys Thanos does fit in with the Marvel Legends figure. The articulation though means it would be difficult to get the figure in a good pose.
The blade is definitely the wining factor of the figure. I wouldn’t mind selling the figure off and keeping the blade to use it with the BAF Armoured Thanos lol.
