Marvel Legends – Toybiz Electro (Sinister 6 Boxset) vs Toybiz Electro (Spider-man Classics Series 19) vs Hasbro Electro (Space Venom BAF Wave)

The Figures

Electro party! Here we have three Electro in his green/yellow costume. Both the Toybiz sports his classic costume appearance, while the Hasbro is a more modern version of it, but still comes with the classic electric head mask.

Sinister 6 Electro comes with a base (as do each figure in the Sinister 6 boxset). Spider-man Classics Electro comes with 2 missiles and one circular electric effect (which I have no idea how to use). Hasbro Electro comes with an alternate modern head that does not have the yellow electric mask.

The figures differ in height slightly, but because of the electric mask, they do seem to look like the same height from the front. From the back though, you can see the SMC Electro is slightly shorter.

Differences

Toybiz used this mold for a few Spider-man figures, like the Spider-man from Urban Legends Boxset. It is slim built and quite well articulated, even better than Hasbro Electro I feel. This body mold however, has a tendency to have loose joints.

This figure also has the signature (and useless) Toybiz finger hinge joint. I mean, you wouldn’t bend all 4 of your fingers at 90 degrees and keep them straight right? Lol.

The gloves has the electric bolt below the forearm. That looks good to me.

His face has a smirking expression. I like that, makes him look like he’s up to something.

This Electro comes with a missile-shooting-hand gimmick. The arms are fixed at almost 90 degrees angle due to it. It is such a waste because this is actually quite a decent figure, well articulated, with a more serious expression on the head sculpt. The gimmick hands really let the figure down.

There are buttons above the elbow to shoot the missiles which can be clearly seen in the second picture of the post. The gloves also has the electric bolt jutting out near the elbow like Sinister 6 Electro

The other accessory is the circular lightning effect. Like I mentioned earlier, I really have no idea how to use it. You really gotta be creative to use it in a toy photo shoot.

The latest Electro has slight variation in his costume. Somewhere along the way, his electric turned blue instead of yellow. There was a reason for this but I can’t remember what it was. The modern Electro also got rid of the yellow electric mask and instead has the electric spark painted grey on his face.

It would have been great if the figure has an alternate hand.

This Hasbro Electro uses the Pizza Spider-man body mold.

These are the faces of Electro. I actually find all the head sculpt great! Both the Toybiz Electro head are awesome, and its great that Hasbro released an alternate head for the Hasbro Electro, for his modern and classic look.

TL;DR

Toybiz Electro (Sinister 6 Boxset):

+ Classic costume

+ Great head sculpt

– No accessories except for base

– Figure has tendency to have loose joints

Toybiz Electro (Spider-man Classics Series 19):

+ Classic costume

+ Great head sculpt

– Gimmick hands, fixed position of arms bent at about 90 degrees to cater to shooting missiles

Hasbro Electro (Space Venom BAF Wave):

+ Modern costume, with two heads; modern and classic head sculpt

+ Great head sculpt

+ Pizza Spidey body mold

– No alternate ‘normal hands’

My Verdict

Gimmicks aside for the SMC Electro, I feel that all 3 of them are great Electro figures! However, between the three, this is one of the rare times that I actually feel Toybiz’s version is better.

The Sinister 6 Electro wins it for me with the comic accurate classic costume and smirk on his face. However, you just gotta watch out for loose joints for the figure.
