Marvel Legends – Mcfarlane Spider-man v KO Mcfarlane Spider-man

The Figures

Here we have the Spider-man Classics Super Poseable Spider-man (widely known as Mcfarlane Spidey) and the knock-off version of it. The KO version surfaced for a few months in 2017 or so. I’m not sure if you can still find it on Ebay or Ali Express.

The differences are obvious, and even more so when you have both in hand to compare. The quality of the KO Spidey is actually comparable to the authentic figure. The joints are tight and the figure is sturdy; no flimsy joints or anything.

Differences

First off, the most obvious is the colour. The KO has a very dark blue paintwork. Its not black, but dark blue.

The next difference is the height. The KO is slightly taller than the authentic Spidey. I think the KO legs are slightly longer the authentic legs.

The next main difference are the shoulders (deltoids). The KO Spidey has unpainted weblines on the deltoids. The webline are quite consistent throughout the figure except at the deltoids. I’ve seen a few KO Mcfarlane Spideys and this unpainted weblines on the deltoids are consistent among the KO Spidey figures.

The heads are actually about the same. Paintwork is good for both figures, for the head.

The spider logo is the same.

Poseability wise, they have the same articulations, therefore same range of poseability.

TL;DR

KO Macfarlane Spidey:

– taller

– dark blue

– unpainted weblines at deltoids

Authentic Mcfarlane Spidey:

– shorter

– different shade of blue

– weblines painted consistently throughout the figure

My Verdict

The KO Mcfarlane Spider-man is actually a decent figure on its own. It can be a stand in Spidey figure if you don’t mind the dark blue paintwork. The articulation is spot on with the authentic figure, and the paintwork of the figure is actually good (except for the weblines at the deltoids). And most importantly, it isn’t as costly as the authentic figure.

I’d still prefer to get the authentic figure of course. Heh.
