Marvel Legends – Magik (Walgreens Exclusive) vs Magik (SDCC 2015 Vishanti Box Set)

The Figures

Here we go! Above are the two releases of Magik. SDCC Magik came out in the Book of Vishanti Boxset in 2015, and was rereleased as a Walgreens Exclusive in 2018. The SDCC Magik was very pricey when it came out and I was lucky to get it at a relatively decent price (wasn’t cheap though). And then, of course, Hasbro has to release it again as a single carded figure.

As you can see, the Walgreens Exclusive is actually awesome! Look at the amount of accessories! This is actually one of the recent Hasbro figure with the most accessories. Its really awesome. There are 3 blue effects for her when doing magic, a big ass yellow sword, another translucent blue sword, a flaming red skull, a pet dragon and an alternate right hand.

The SDCC Magik is pricey simply because it was one of the most sought after figure from the Vishanti Boxset (the boxset is also pricey!). However, it only comes with 2 swords, that’s it. There are differences of course, but if you are not fussy as to these minute differences, than Walgreens Magik is the way to go!

Differences

First off, the face! The Walgreens Magik looks gothic with the dark red lips and black eyeliner. The SDCC Magik has white-out eyes and bright red lips. Their eyebrows are also different.

For the metallic arms, I prefer the SDCC metallic silver paintwork than the Walgreens dark grey paintwork. The metallic outlook of the SDCC Magik looks real good to me. In the comic its usually drawn in dark grey or almost black, so the Walgreens arm is kinda more comic accurate, I feel.

The Walgreens Magik’s strappy boots definitely looks better than the plain Jane feet of the SDCC Magik.

The rest of the figure is the same. One thing to note is that the heads can’t be swapped without modifications as the ball joint at the neck is different in size, as can be seen above.

TL;DR

Marvel Legends - Magik (Walgreens Exclusive) Walgreens Exclusive Magik:
+ A lot of accerries

+ Darker ‘gothic’ red lips and black eyeliners

+ Nice boots

+ Yellow big sword and translucent blue sword

+ Dark grey metallic arm

– Different ball joints on the neck cause it not to be able to be head swapped with SDCC Magik for an alternate look

Marvel Legends - Magik (SDCC 2015 Vishanti Box Set)

SDCC Book of Vishanti Boxset Magik:

+ White eyes and bright red lips

+ White big sword and silver sword

+ Silver metallic arm

– Plain feet (no boots sculpting)

– Lesser accessories

– Different ball joints on the neck cause it not to be able to be head swapped with Walgreens Magik for an alternate look

My Verdict

Although the SDCC Vishanti Magik is still more pricey, getting the Walgreens Magik is definitely better due to the lower price point ant sheer amount of accessories. It easier to find too. You can get the Walgreens Magik here.
