Here we have the two Kraven figures by Hasbro.
The first one on the left is from the Rhino BAF Wave back in 2015, and on the right is the Kraven from a 2-pack with Black Costume Spider-man. Check out my comparison of the Black Costume Spider-man here.
The two figures have different appearances of Kraven. Rhino Kraven comes with a spear and 2-pack Kraven comes with a spear and a rifle.
Though the figures have a different appearance, the have almost the same body mold. The 2-pack Kraven is a retool of the Rhino Kraven, specifically at the legs.
The Rhino Kraven takes on his more modern appearance and the 2-pack Kraven is in his classic appearance and his appearance during the iconic comic story line ‘Kraven’s Last Hunt‘.
The most obvious difference besides the appearance, is the height of the figures. The Rhino Kraven’s boots make him taller than the 2-pack Kraven.
One thing that irks most collectors, including me, are the cankles of the 2-pack Kraven. The ankles look very swollen, lol.
Left: Kraven (Rhino BAF Wave) Right: Kraven (Kraven’s Last Hunt 2-pack)
The lion mane vest are exactly the same, but the 2-pack Kraven’s vest looks better with the dark brown wash. The dark brown wash brings out the sculpt of the vest.
The single-coloured light brown vest on the Rhino Kraven looks dull.
As mentioned earlier, the dark brown wash looks good on the lion mane vest, as can be seen at the front too. You can see the ears of the lion on the 2-pack because of the better paintwork on it.
The eyes of the lion are painted different in colour.
2-pack Kraven has chest hair, and isn’t wearing a necklace. Kraven Rhino went for waxing lol.
Both of them have the leopard print strap around their biceps, but the brown colour there are different and matches their attire.
The belt are also different. Rhino Kraven has pouches on the belt, with a gold buckle. 2-pack Kraven belt has ‘claws’ at the sides.
The hands are also slightly different. The brown straps on the right fully covers the right forearm of the Rhino Kraven, but the 2-pack Kraven has a bit of gap where skin can be seen.
The right hand is also different; Rhino Kraven has a gripping hand while the 2-pack Kraven has a trigger hand.
Next up, the face! At first, I thought the 2-pack Kraven head looks ridiculous, but once I have it in hand, it’s actually great! The expression is intense and the paintwork is good, especially the eyes and mouth. You can also see better sculpting of the face itself, from the frown to the wrinkles at the outer ends of the eyes and also cheek. Really awesome.
Rhine Kraven looks bored, and the goatee suffers from QC problems; it’s either looks a bit slanted, or there are paint blemishes or bleeding paint.
The hair sculpt of the 2-pack is also better than the Rhino Kraven.
The skull at the knees of the Rhino Kraven is awesome; detailed and has a good paintwork. The boots are also decent. Because of the boots and pants sculpt, it is missing the calf swivel joint.
2-pack Kraven wears a pair of slip-on sandals lol. The worst are the cankles. His ankles look really swollen. The leopard prints are decent.
Same spear, different paintwork. You can see the difference in the colour of the shaft, blade, and the beads and feathers.
Here’s 2-pack Kraven with his rifle and spear. The rifle fits the right trigger hand nicely.
Here’s the Rhino Kraven with his spear. You can see the skull jutting out when the knees are bent. I feel that the face could have been done better.
Kraven (Rhino BAF Wave):
+ Modern appearance
+ Taller (due to boots)
+ Comes with a spear
+ 2 gripping hands
+ Nice skull sculpt on knees
+ Same lion vest as 2-pack Kraven
+ No chest hair
+ Wears a belt with pouches, and a necklace
– Hair sculpt and face not as good and well-sculpted as the 2-pack Kraven
– Lion vest looks dull as it is single coloured
– Skull on knees jut out when knees are bent
Kraven (Kraven’s Last Hunt 2-pack):
+ Classic appearance
+ Slightly shorter due to wearing sandals/flats
+ Comes with spear and rifle
+ Right trigger finger hand and left gripping hand
+ Same lion vest as Rhino Kraven
+ Vest has better paintwork and looks more vibrant
+ Has chest hair
+ Extreme facial expression
+ Head sculpt is well-painted and detailed with frown/wrinkles on face
+ Better hair sculpt
+ Wears a belt with claws, and does not wear a necklace
– Cankles; ankles look big and swollen
I’m definitely keeping both Kravens as they have different appearances, but between these two, I find the 2-pack Kraven to have better paintwork and details on the figure. Those ankles are terrible though.
I mentioned earlier that I thought the 2-pack Kraven head looks awful, but once I have the figure in hand, it is actually great! The Rhino Kraven is also not bad despite the bland lion vest.
