The Figures

Here we have the early Hasbro 2-pack Forge (that comes with a similar costumed Wolverine) and the recent Caliban BAF Wave Forge. You can see that the 2-pack comes with a lot of accessories (I’m missing the bullets for the big gun though), and the Caliban Wave Forge comes with only 2 guns. Its always fun to have more accessories.

The new Caliban Forge uses the Bucky Cap body mold whereas the 2-pack Forge uses the Toybiz Bullseye body mold. The Bucky Cap is only slightly beefier, but due to the smaller head size of the 2-pack, it makes it seems like the Caliban Forge is bigger than the 2-pack Forge.

You can see that the costume design is quite similar, except that the shades of yellow and blue are different, and that the Caliban Forge has brown boots instead of matching yellow boots.

Differences

Hasbro is really milking us with the Bucky cap mold. It’s actually a decent mold, but adding a shoulder butterfly joint would make the figure even better.

Anyways, I find the Forge’s facial expression to be very blend and boring. I wish he came with an angry or fierce [removed]or have a different expression as an alternate head).

The silver on his metallic thigh looks better than the 2-pack Forge. At least here, its shiny. The gun holster is also a good update.

Caliban BAF Wave Forge hold his gun firmly and well. The smaller gun fits the thigh holster snugly too. The gun designs are also decent.

This is as annoying as Warlock BAF Wave Cyclop’s bands at his boots. It drops easily. Its easily fixed with some superglue or blue tack, but why can’t Hasbro make it stay put in the first place?

Punisher called and wants his red headband back. Haha. Or did Forge wear it first? I’ve no idea, but having an alternate head with no headband would be nice. The ponytail goes downwards instead of sideways like the 2-pack Forge.

And there’s that standard hole at the back as per the usual Bucky Cap body mold.

Now that’s what I call expression! The 2-pack forge comes with the red headband head and an alternate snarling headband-less head. Both ponytails swerve unnaturally to the right (maybe the wind is always blowing by for him).

I like that the red headband head has some head tech attached.

2-pack Forge has a supposedly metallic thigh, and an alternative metallic right hand, but both of them are painted dull grey. Sheesh. Toybiz would have at least black wash it or something. It just looks so dull and un-metallic. Plastic thigh perhaps?

The X logo on his belt is also big.

The guns fit each of those hands specifically. Can’t swap the hands and the guns due to the difference in the gap of the fingers. The hands also don’t really hold the guns tightly, just firm enough that it doesn’t drop.

Hands up!

This is a funny little hand gun. The gap at the trigger is not big enough for the index finger to be slotted in. So the way the gun is held is not firm either.

Caliban Wave Forge is slightly taller than 2-pack Forge. I don’t like the way the Toybiz Bullseye body mold has that neck inclined forward as such. Its inclined a little bit too much to me.

TL;DR

Marvel Legends - Hasbro Forge (2-pack with Wolverine) vs Hasbro Forge (Caliban BAF Wave)Hasbro 2-pack Forge:

+ More accessories (more guns and has alternate head and hands)

+ More expressive faces on head sculpt

+ Ponytail goes sideways (for wind-blowing effect perhaps?)

– ‘Metallic’ thigh and right hand is painted dull grey

– Hands don’t hold the gun very tightly

– The gap at the trigger of the smallest gun is not big enough for the index finger to go through

– Slightly shorter than Caliban Forge

Marvel Legends - Hasbro Forge (2-pack with Wolverine) vs Hasbro Forge (Caliban BAF Wave)Hasbro Forge (Caliban BAF Wave):

+ Metallic thigh is shiny grey

+ Weapons can be held in the hands firmly

+ Ponytail goes downwards

+ Has a holster for the hand gun

– Fewer accessories (comes with 2 guns only, no alternate head or hands)

– The bands at the top of his boots drop downwards easily

– Boring facial expression

My Verdict

I don’t know man, I’m torn between these two. Both of them are great in their own ways. I’m definitely keeping both! Which do you prefer?

What I did above is switching out the 2-pack Forge heads on the Caliban Forge. The snarling head looks slightly small on the Caliban Forge body, but the headband head actually looks decent and doesn’t look small. And best part is the head fits without any need for modification.

You can get Hasbro Forge (Caliban BAF Wave) here or here.

You can get the 2-pack Forge here.
