Left: Game Stop Exclusive Gamerverse Spider-man (Authentic) Right: Gamerverse Spider-man (KO)
When I bought the KO Spider-man 2099, I decided to get this KO Gamerverse Spider-man as well.
This version of Spider-man has leapt from just being in the Spider-man PS4 game, to having a comic series of his own, and even appearing in the mainstream Earth-616 Spider-man’s ‘Spider-geddon’ storyline.
I do kinda dig this costume design. It’s like and updated modern costume, an upgrade from the classic costume (and it actually is an upgraded costume, as per in his own comic series).
The KO comes with the same accessories as the authentic. As with all the KOs I go, It doesn’t come in a box. I do like the figure, except for the head, which I find a bit big for the body. Peter Parker does not have a broad jaw line. Heh.
One quite obvious differences is the glossy finish of the KO Gamerverse Spidey. The authentic has a matt finish, and even in the picture, you can see the glossiness of the KO.
Another difference is the black outline of the eyes on the mask is painted a bit thicker for the KO. However, I’m not sure if it’s just for the KO figure I got, or if it’s a consistent thing throughout all KO Gamerverse Spider-man.
The authentic Gamerverse Spider-man has a lot of QC issues, and you can see the spider logo on the back for my authentic Gamerverse Spidey does not have clean lines; there’s quite a lot of white paint bleeding off the logo. Booo. The KO actually does a better job for the logo.
The web lines on the back of the head of the KO Gamerverse Spidey are disjointed. This is another obvious difference.
You can see in each picture that there is a gap at both pairs of elbow and knee joints for the KO Gamerverse Spider-man. It can’t be seen from a frontal view though, so it doesn’t look so awful, but it is still a clear difference.
Another obvious difference is the peg of the hands. The authentic Gamerverse Spider-man has a cylindrical peg joint, whereas the KO has a different peg joint.
Last but not least, the web lines are slightly different in colour. The KO web lines are very slightly more yellowish than the authentic web lines. It can be hard to differentiate though unless you have them both in hand.
Authentic Gamerverse Spider-man:
+ Matt paintwork
+ Slightly thinner black outline for the eyes
+ Peg joints for the hands are different from KO
+ Webline accessory is white
KO Gameverse Spider-man:
+ Glossy paintwork
+ Slightly thicker black outline for the eyes
+ Peg joints for the hands are different from authentic Gamerverse Spidey
+ Webline accessory is off-white/slightly yellowish
– Weblines on the back of the head are disjointed
– Wider gap at elbow and knee joint
From the comments on my Instagram account, some actually prefer the glossy finish and the thicker black outline on the eyes of the KO Gamerverse Spider-man.
