Yeah yeah I know the 80th Anniversary Captain America just came out, but I haven’t gotten it yet, so let’s take a look at these 2 Caps. On the left is Captain America from the Onslaught BAF Wave and on the right is Captain America from the Vintage Wave 1.
They have the same body mold, but different paintwork and accessories. The Onslaught Captain America comes with and alternate ‘finger-pointing’ hand and ‘salute’ hand, two pieces of shoulder buckle, shield and a wolf head. I don’t know when in the comics that such a thing happened to Cap that he got turned into a wolf. Heh.
Vintage wave Captain America comes with a shield and shield throw effect. The shield can be removed from the effect.
The shade of blue is totally different for the two figure. The shade of red is also slightly different for the gloves, boots, stripes at torso and shield.
Besides the different shade in blue and red, the other main difference are the scales on the Vintage Wave Captain America. The scales, however, are not sculpted, but only painted. The new Marvel 80th Anniversary Captain America has sculpted scales. Can’ wait to get my hands on that figure!
They have the same peg hole at the back to slot in the shield.
The shoulder straps is for the purpose of ‘strapping’ the shield to his shoulders. The straps are useless unless in vanilla pose or glued to the shoulder (but we wouldn’t wanna do that, would we). In the picture above, the straps are just hanging on his shoulders; any other pose, it will just slip down his shoulders.
Salute! Or you can make do a slapping pose. Haha.
Hey you! Yes you! Drop some comments at the bottom of the post! =D
Arrrrwooooooooo! Like I said earlier, I don’t know which storyline in the comics had this werewolf Cap.
Here’s a picture with the shield removed from the throwing effect. The throwing effect is actually and alternate right hand.
Captain America (Onslaught BAF Wave):
+ Exact same body mold as Vintage Wave Captain America
+ Extra ‘finger-pointing’ left hand and ‘salute’ right hand
+ Wolf head
+ Includes shoulder straps, but they can only be placed and not fall off when the figure is doing a vanilla pose (normal standing pose)
+ Shade of red and blue is slightly darker than Vintage Wave Captain America
Captain America (Vintage Wave 1):
+ Exact same body mold as Onslaught Captain America
+ Shield throwing effect (shield can be attached and detached, comes as an alternate right hand)
+ Shade of red and blue is slightly lighter than Onslaught Captain America
The Onslaught BAF Wave Captain America definitely packs more accessories, resulting in more (fun) ways to pose it. The Vintage Wave Captain America has a more classic look with the painted scales. It also kinda looks like the Captain America in the 90s Spider-man Animated Series. However, the new 80th Anniversary Captain America has a new body mold and sculpted scales, and I feel would look better than the Vintage Wave Captain America when it comes to his classic costume.
I’m keeping both as they look different, but if you are not really a Captain America fan, you might as well skip this 2 figures and get the more solid Marvel 80th Anniversary Captain America.
