Here we have the same character; AIM Scientist from being single carded in the Mandroid BAF Wave to being rereleased as a 2-pack with AIM Soldier.
The 2-pack actually comes with a bunch of weapons that can be shared between the two 2-pack figures, but for comparison’s sake I’ll just take out the same weapons.
They have the same exact body mold, but unlike the Hydra Agents, this AIM Scientists has some glaring differences. If you want to army build this character, you have to be able to put up with those differences.
Firsts off, the mask. The 2-pack AIM Scientist has black mesh visors but the Mandroid Aim Scientist has silver mesh visors. The 2-pack AIM Scientist also has strap (with canister attached) that goes across the chest.
They have the same collar.
Another glaring the difference; the black gloves for 2-pack AIM Scientist and yellow gloves for Madroid AIM Scientist. I prefer the black gloves.
This is a more subtle but important difference. The 2-pack AIM Scientist has a yellow-base belt with black parts painted on, while the Mandroid AIM Scientist has a black-base belt with yellow parts painted on. The 2-pack belt definitely looks better with cleaner paint application (easier to paint black over yellow, than yellow over black right?).
Not that it matters, but the 2-pack weapons are slightly more glossy than the Mandroid AIM Scientist weapons. Ignorable difference though.
AIM Scientist (2-pack):
+ Black mesh visor
+ Black gloves
+ Belt/strap across the chest
+ Slightly more glossy paintwork on the weapons (but it doesn’t matter much right?)
AIM Scientist (Mandroid BAF Wave):
+ Silver mesh visor
+ Yellow gloves
+ Weapons less glossy paintwork (but like I mentioned, ignorable difference)
I definitely prefer the 2-pack for the black visor and black gloves. It simply looks better to me, especially the black gloves. If I were to army build, I’d start hunting down the 2-pack version. Still a bit costly to army build though.
