The Figures

Here’s the authentic and KO / bootleg Hasbro 80th Anniversary Marvel Legends Big Time Spider-man. It was high time we got this figure again, since the first one was so bad it was nicknamed ‘Big Time Let Down Spider-man’ lol.

You can check out the comparison of this new Big Time Spidey with the older one here.

The authentic Big Time Spidey comes with 3 pairs of hands; fists, wall-crawling and webs-shooting hands; and also a web line. The KO Big Time Spidey comes with the same set of accessories.

Here’s a side and back view of the figures. They really looks similar, with the KO also having the serial number at the back of the thigh.

I’m not bothered about what the numbers are because even between authentic figures, sometimes the numbers differ.

Below are 3 ways to differentiate the authentic and KO.

Differences

The webline is indistinguishable. Its almost impossible to tell them apart; I really can’t find any obvious or obscure differences.

As mentioned earlier, the KO comes with the same set of accessories as the authentic.

1. However, the main difference are the pegs of the KO. The authentic hands do not have the grooves like the KO, as seen in the picture above.

This is one obvious way to spot the KO Big Time Spider-man.

2. If you look closely at the nose bridge area of the eyes, the authentic has them sharper as compared to the KO, which has them kinda blunt.

Not an obvious difference at a glance, but one that you can still spot in pictures.

3. One common way to spot a KO Spidey is the at the elbow joints.

The gap at the right elbow joint of the authentic Big Time Spidey is narrow, and a small-sized capital R sculpted upwards.

For the KO, the gap at the right elbow joint is wider and a bigger-sized capital R can be seen engraved inwards.

This is one sure way to spot the KO body.

Same thing applies for the left elbow joint; wider gap and L engraved inwards for the KO Spidey.

TL;DR

Authentic Hasbro 80th Anniversary Big Time Spider-man:

  • Hands do not have grooves on the pegs
  • The eyes are sharper at the nose bridge area
  • Smaller gaps at the left and right elbow, with a small-sized capital R sculpted upwards

KO Big Time Spider-man:

  • Hands have grooves on the pegs
  • The eyes are blunt at the nose bridge area
  • Wider gaps at the left and right elbow, with a visibly bigger-sized capital R engraves inwards.

My Verdict

Despite the 3 differences I mentioned, the KO Big Time Spider-man is a very solid KO; the joints are all tight and the plastic quality and paintwork is good.

This is one of the better KOs out there and is very similar to the authentic, so do look out for the differences I mentioned if you are buying him loose complete without the box. You wouldn’t wanna overpay for a KO.
